My Candle Journey: From Passion to Quality Craftsmanship
It all began with Fengshui. As a staunch believer in Fengshui principles, I sought quick activation through fire, namely burning candles. I experimented with various types, from scented to renowned brands like Yankee candles. However, many scented candles failed to retain their fragrance, leading me to prioritise long-lasting burn time over scent. Yet, this came at a cost—I was literally burning through money. To save in the long run, I ventured into making my own candles, purchasing my first candle kit online.
Initially, crafting candles was exhilarating. I favoured natural soy wax and paid attention to aesthetic packaging. As time passed, I explored different wax types like Paraffin, Beeswax, and Coconut, and experimented with fragrances and wicks. A humorous anecdote involves crafting a "6 packed hunk" candle for a friend's birthday using Paraffin wax (soy or coconut wax would have melted).
However, my enthusiasm soon turned to dismay when I realised I hadn't been trimming my wicks properly. One morning, I woke up covered in black soot, oblivious to the seriousness until it tarnished my luxurious bedsheets. The culprit? Neglected wicks, exacerbated by my constant experimentation. To remedy this, I now prioritise quality wicks to ensure both my safety and that of my customers.
While I can proudly claim that my candles emit minimal soot, I must include disclaimers. Factors like untrimmed wicks and improper fragrance temperatures during pouring can contribute to soot production. Transparency is key—I aim to provide the best quality candles while acknowledging human error and offering guidance to customers.
My goal is simple: to offer the serenity of clean, healthy candles, delivering the tranquility we all crave. Thank you for accompanying me on this journey, and please, share your feedback.
